Learn all about cd command
In Linux 'cd' (Change Directory) command is one of the most important and one of the most widely used command. more information can be found here:
root:~# man cd
1.1 Change from current directory to desired directory using absolute path
root:~# cd /usr/local/ root:/usr/local#
root:/usr/local# cd ../bin/ root:/usr/bin# root:/usr/bin#cd ./sbin/ root:/usr/bin/sbin#
2.1 Move one directory back from where you are now.
root:~# cd /usr/bin root:/usr/bin# cd .. root:/usr#
root:~# cd /bin/ root:/bin#cd /usr/bin root:/usr/bin/# cd - root:/bin#
root:~# cd /bin/ root:/bin#cd /usr/bin root:/usr/bin/# cd -- root:~#
3.1 Move two directory up from where you are now.
root:~# cd /usr/local/bin root:/usr/local/bin# cd ../.. root:/usr#
root:~# cd /usr/local/bin root:/usr/local/bin# cd ~ root:~# root:~# cd /usr/local/bin root:/usr/local/bin# cd root:~#
4.1 Change to a directory containing white spaces.
root:~# cd /home/parth\ shah/ root:/home/parth shah# OR root:~# cd '/home/parth shah/' root:/home/parth shah#
